I originally wanted to make a Cyclops with a light up action figure so I used the original Cyclops figure, the one with the blue and white X Factor costume. The body was perfect for Quitely's skinny design. I cut off the head, carefully leaving the lightbulb intact and cut off the arms below the elbow as well as the lower legs.
I then pegged the arms of the movie Cyclops and feet from a Spidey Classics Daredevil. The jacket, sleeves and pant details were added with epoxy putty. Halfway throughout the sculpting stage the lightbulb went out. I wasn't sure if it was the batteries because the figure didn't have a replacement hatch in the back. And I didn't want to cut it open not knowing where all the important parts lay.
Anyways, the head is made from sculpey, hollowed in the inside for the light up action that never was. I gave him the puckered lips cause I felt it was indicative of Frank Quitely's artwork, but in retrospect I might have gone overboard with it.
He's still missing his belt which I'm hoping to add sometime in the near future.
